Preschool Graduation!

This week was a big week for us!!  Monday was Lyla's last full day of school, which also meant the last day that I get to spend a couple of hours alone with my Evie Joy.  I put off everything I needed to do for the day and let her pick what she wanted to do, and donuts was her immediate request.  We went to our local donut shop and ate way too many donut holes, then ran around outside playing hide and seek before heading home for some tricycle riding around the neighborhood.

On Tuesday we all get dressed up for Lyla's graduation ceremony.  After we dropped her off Evie and I headed to the store to pick up some flowers for the little graduate.  Evie was so sweet and excited for Lyla's performance and graduation.  She picked yellow and pink flowers - their favorite colors - and insisted on holding them herself.  We went back to school and met up with Goan and Ryan and waited for the performance to begin.  Evie ran to the front with her dad and took over the picture taking duty herself while Lyla sang with her class.  After she got her diploma we had to run out so Evie could give hugs and give Lyla the flowers.  We picked Lyla up from her classroom for the last time and took pictures with her amazing teachers, then headed out to a celebration lunch and ice cream sundaes!

It was one of those unexpected dreamy mama days.  The girls were just so well behaved and sweet all day.  Evie was so excited for her big sister, and patient throughout all the waiting and watching.  There was no jealousy over Lyla's attention or gifts, just lots of hugs and smiles and adoration.  Lyla was so proud of herself and excited, and also a little sad and sentimental about the year coming to an end.  She ate up all the attention from her sister, ordered sushi and mac n cheese for lunch and shared her fun present from Goan without any hesitation.  (And believe me, these behaviors are not exactly the norm, so like I said...such a dreamy day!)

What a fun year it was.  Lyla's class and teachers were such a blessing, and she grew in so many ways.  She's taller and smarter and her faith has grown more than ever.  She learned so much, and looking at these pictures makes my heart want to burst.  I know these sweet days will be a distant memory before I know it, so I'll be soaking up all these precious 5 year old summer days as much as I can.

Love you so much more than you'll ever know, Lyla Loo!

Cheesy smiles and donuts!  :)

So proud to pose with the flowers she picked out!

Preschool performance!  One of the things I'll miss most is her coming home singing the songs she learned that day.

She did it!!  :)

Evie was so excited to give her those flowers.  Lyla will miss her best friend, Ingrid, the most.  :)

Lyla and her teachers - Miss Caroline and Miss Erica.  They were the BEST.

Fort Worth! (AKA, My Birthday Weekend!)

Two years ago my stepmom, step aunt, and I went out to Fort Worth to visit my sister, Kate.  Since she's graduating in December (yay!) and I was sort of in need of a little time away from my sweet, precious, always behaving little girls, I suggested to the group that we do it all again this year.  They might have sensed my desperation for some girl time in between my texting lines because everyone jumped on it, and our schedules just happened to work best over my birthday weekend!

It was so much fun, just like last time.  We did a few less touristy things and a few more shopping and eating things, which was just fine with us.  The couple of days flew by, but the two awesome nights of sleep, girl talk and shopping were just what the doctor ordered.  Not to mention Kate has the cutest little apartment and cutest little friends ever!

Thanks for an amazing weekend, ladies!!

Ryan's Birthday Weekend!

It's safe to say this guy got spoiled for his 33rd birthday!  His parents came into town for the weekend so I took advantage of the extra help and planned a surprise birthday party for him, and a night out in the city the following night!  It was a busy weekend, but so much fun!

It's always so nice to get a night away from the kids occasionally.  We talked about how great it is that his parents take the kids so often and really give us a chance to still focus on us as a married couple.  It's so important to keep that focus, and so much harder to do after kids.  But it sure does a marriage good!

We also talked about how amazing it is that you can miss them so much in so little time!  We all met up again at brunch on Sunday and those sweet little faces were a sight for sore eyes!  Love those little stinkers.

Thanks to all that made it to the surprise party!  And thanks to Grandma and Pop for being brave enough to take on two little crazies.  But just think - next time it'll be three!!  Ha ;)

Easter Weekend!

We started out Easter weekend with a bang.  Ryan got home from a work trip Friday afternoon, so we loaded up the girls and took them to the mall to see the Easter bunny at right about dinner time - thinking it would be less hectic than the next day.  Boy were we wrong.  After an hour and a half of waiting in line and taking turns eating food court meals so we wouldn't lose our place, we finally made it to the bunny.  And Sis flat out refused to have anything to do with him.  So we snapped a quick pic of Lyla and got the H outta there.

Saturday we took them to a nearby nursery where they had live bunnies to pet and hold for kids.  I was sort of expecting a petting zoo kind of thing, but again, I was wrong.  We stood in line for another hour+ as they only let one family at a time interact with the 2 bunnies.

Sunday was beautiful, and we didn't even wait in any lines!  The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the girls loved everything about Easter day - the bunny prints in the house, the baskets, the candy, church and brunch with their favorite person on Earth - Goan, the egg hunt, everything!  It couldn't have been a better way to wrap up the weekend.

Here are some pics!
