Easter Weekend!

We started out Easter weekend with a bang.  Ryan got home from a work trip Friday afternoon, so we loaded up the girls and took them to the mall to see the Easter bunny at right about dinner time - thinking it would be less hectic than the next day.  Boy were we wrong.  After an hour and a half of waiting in line and taking turns eating food court meals so we wouldn't lose our place, we finally made it to the bunny.  And Sis flat out refused to have anything to do with him.  So we snapped a quick pic of Lyla and got the H outta there.

Saturday we took them to a nearby nursery where they had live bunnies to pet and hold for kids.  I was sort of expecting a petting zoo kind of thing, but again, I was wrong.  We stood in line for another hour+ as they only let one family at a time interact with the 2 bunnies. 

Sunday was beautiful, and we didn't even wait in any lines!  The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the girls loved everything about Easter day - the bunny prints in the house, the baskets, the candy, church and brunch with their favorite person on Earth - Goan, the egg hunt, everything!  It couldn't have been a better way to wrap up the weekend.

Easter Sunday

When you move far away from family and you find friends that are as good as family, you're pretty lucky.  When they happen to live right next door - watch out because my 2 year old might sneak into your house while you're showering.  Seriously.  :)

The only bad thing about moving into our new house was leaving two of our favorite people, but luckily we're not far and we even got to spend Easter Sunday with them!  Scott and Julie joined us for church, at which point we were dead to our kids.  I think they even kissed them goodbye when they went to their classes.  I'm not sure I even got eye contact.  You know you're in good company when your kids love them even more than you.  :)

We had a great Easter, and even made it to church early!  (Miracle!)  I got approximately zero good pictures, but rest assured it was a completely relaxed, non fancy kind of holiday.  Like, a t shirt and sweats kind of holiday.  And you just have to love friends you can eat Easter brunch with in your sweats.

Easter Bunnies and Easter Eggs and Monday Things

Today was what I like to call a "loud noises" day, where I feel like Brick in that Anchorman scene where everyone is yelling and all he can say is "Loud noises!"  Some days are just all yelling and crying and all around high maintenancing.  But the good news is it's only Monday, so it's just the beginning.  :)

Speaking of Mondays, if you're looking for the perfect way to drain all patience reservoirs before the sun even rises on a Monday morning, look no further.  The perfect answer is dyeing Easter eggs with a 4 year old and 2 year old before your coffee has even had a chance to sink in.  All things considered, it went pretty darn well.  But if you're one of those that likes to warm up slowly to your week, and not crash right into it - I'd go ahead and skip it.

We finished our Easter eggs tonight, and by that I mean Lyla plans to continue the decorating until the cows come home.  Some of them already have 3 layers of decorating - and let me tell you, they are lovely.  It's the first time we've actually dyed eggs with the girls and it's cute how much they love it.  :)

Trip Home

We went back home for Easter weekend to get Evie baptized at Ryan's family's church.  Ryan couldn't take any time off work, so I went solo with the girls a couple days early since I was still on maternity leave and we had a lot of family to show off our baby girls to.  The trip alone was quite the adventure, but honestly the hardest part was just lugging all the stuff around...besides some wild and crazy bathroom trips.  (But what's an adventure without a few diaper blowouts and toddlers hiding under the changing table, crawling on hands and knees in the public bathroom and stripping their shoes off?)  In all seriousness, we really lucked out with good little travelers. 

Evie got to meet a lot more of her family, and once again they were all smitten.  Lyla had the time of her life being around a new set of grandmas and grandpas every day and getting to chase around their kitties and puppies, getting wheel barrow rides, jumping on trampolines, sleeping in a big girl bed for the first time (which was a lot less fun for me), and getting all around spoiled with presents and attention.  She's still talking about all the fun she had.
