Independence Day

This 4th of July it was just the three of us, which makes for a little bit of an anticlimactic holiday, but it was pretty fun nonetheless.  We went to the pool for a while, which Lyla is totally loving these days.  She's starting to keep her sunglasses on, and prefers to swim with a bow in her hair, so she's pretty glam and kind of steals the show in her little pink bikinis.  She's getting really good at floating, dunking her face under the water, and kicking her legs, but mostly she likes to collect as many toys that aren't hers as she can.

After the pool and a nap we had a little BBQ at home and shared some bomb pops - Lyla's first popsicle.  She went to bed well before it was even dark, so she has yet to know the wonder of fireworks.  I really can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees them for the first time next year!

BBQ

When Jo got here on Saturday she was laughing about how excited she was to visit Minnesota, and who would have ever thought she'd love this place so much?

Little did she know that Minnesota would welcome her with about 120% humidity and bugs.for.days.  I'm talking Miserable with a capital M.  Luckily she has the cutest niece ever that follows her around like a little puppy dog to make things somewhat tolerable.

As soon as us girls got home from the airport we had a BBQ for some of Ryan's work people.  L thought she was queen for the day with all the extra attention.  I think the picture of her about to drink out of the beer bottle might be my all time fave.
