Today is the last day of my maternity leave, and those 2 months sure flew right by. For those of you that know me you know that A) I can be quite emotional, B) I wear my emotions on my sleeve, and C) I'm a crier. Given that information, you can just imagine what the last few days have been like. I don't need to bore you with the details. ;)
In between all that we did a lot of fun things like baking blueberry muffins, cuddling, painting nails, and a McDonald's date. We also did some not-so-fun things like wish it would stop raining, washing filthy, rascally animals, and baking blueberry muffins. (Baking with a toddler is a lot more fun in theory, I think. But the pictures are sure cute. :)
In other news Evie Sis has become quite the ham this last week with her smiling constantly and mimicking sounds. Mostly "ooooh". She's also racing right through her 3 month sizes, and even maxing out some of her 6 month outfits. And she's not even 2 months!
Also, my number one problem was relieved today when the girl that creates the birth announcement I wanted to order for Evie (who happened to go on maternity leave right when I did and discontinued her work during that time) said she would go ahead and do them for me anyways. Can I get a #firstworldproblems??
Here's some pics from the week! Wish me luck tomorrow...

Arizona
I am so far behind on my blog posts...so much has happened over the last month but it turns out having two kids take up any extra time you once had. Who knew?
We went to Arizona the first week of April for Ryan's 30th birthday. Traveling with a 3 week old and 2 year old was interesting at times, but it was more successful than I ever thought it would be. Our girls are awesome fliers.
Ryan's family got to meet Evie for the first time, and thoroughly spoiled Lyla with a new pair of sparkly cowgirl boots, a pink cowgirl hat and a horse you can actually ride around the house.
It was a lot of fun to get in some warm weather and see family, but I think my favorite memory is from the drive back to the airport on our way home. We had to get up early and head to the Las Vegas airport to catch our flight. Ryan had thrown Lyla's hood on her sweatshirt up over her head before putting her in the car and about 15 minutes into the trip she says from the back seat "Lyla's head go?!" while patting the top of her head and feeling the sweatshirt material. I died laughing and explained that she was feeling her sweatshirt hood over her head. Her head was still in fact there, just covered. A couple minutes later she says "Lyla's head!" And I turned around to see that she'd taken her hood off and found her head.
Also, we saw the mom from "Everybody Loves Raymond" at the airport. Lady's lookin' a little rough these days. Too many late nights at Thunder Down Under I'm guessing. ;)

The First Month
Well, it happened again. I blinked and a month flew by. We've already survived a cold for both girls, a family trip, a million big sister kisses, nice pats, some not so nice ones, and plenty of time outs.
It was an emotional ride home from the hospital knowing that was the end of my getting to dote solely on my second born, and not sure what to expect from the real life we were heading back to. Lyla was so cute, just bursting at the seams with excitement about meeting her sister and having us home again. When we sat on the couch with her she stood between Ryan and I, hung her arms around our shoulders and said "Mommy. Dada. Lyla. Buddies." And I knew everything would be ok.
Adding a second baby to the mix has been quite the adjustment, and difficult in a lot of ways, but it's also been a lot easier than I expected in a lot of ways. I think mostly it's just that newborn magic that gets me. Those sounds they make while they sleep or nurse, and the feeling of them asleep on your chest, that smell...if I could bottle all that up and sell it I'd be a rich woman.
Here's a bunch of pictures from the first part of the month. :)

Lyla meeting her Evie sis for the very first time. I can't even describe the emotions in that moment, except that I think my heart exploded right then and there.
Snuggling with her new bunny Evie brought her. :)
And my new push present. That man of mine is a real keeper.
First Dr. appointment and first bath at home. She obviously loved it.
Big sis snuggles.
Kevvy loves his baby sis too. :)
